Methodology

Every page on iGaming Terminal rests on two things: facts we can source and figures we can recompute. This page explains how both are produced and checked.

The regulation tracker

• Each market has one entry with the status of online casino, sports betting, online poker and lottery, the regulator, the main law, key points, the national self-exclusion scheme and the sources used.
• Sources are the regulator's own website, the law itself, government announcements, and established legal and industry publications. Where two sources disagree, or a detail cannot be confirmed, we leave it out.
• Every market page shows the date it was last reviewed. Entries are reviewed again when a law or rule changes, and regulators' announcements are collected automatically several times a day.
• The same data decides where advertising may be shown on this site, as described in our advertising policy.

Calculators and figures

• Calculators use the standard formulas of the trade, shown on each page: implied probability, overround and margin, GGR and hold, house edge and theoretical win, wagering cost, revenue share over a churning player base, and lifetime value.
• Every worked example in our pages is computed by a program and checked a second way, for example a closed formula against a month-by-month sum or a simulation, before the page can be built.

Tax rates and licence fees

• Licence fees come from each regulator's own fee schedule; where it is not published online, from two independent legal or trade sources that agree.
• Tax rates come from tax authorities, regulators and established legal and trade publications. Every market links to the sources we used.
• Rates and fees adopted for a later date are listed with that date and take effect in our tables and charts on that day.
• Examples that turn a tax on stakes into a share of gross gaming revenue, or add up first-year fees, are computed by a program.

Analysis pieces

• Each analysis piece starts from figures computed by code, printed at the top of the page and in its table. Regulation pieces use only the facts in the tracker, which list their sources.
• The explanation is drafted with the help of AI language models and must not contain any figure of its own. Drafts are rejected automatically for unsupported numbers, filler or promotional language, then checked against the facts, and spot-checked by our editors.
• We correct errors promptly: see our editorial standards or tell us.

What we do not do

We do not rank operators, accept payment for coverage, or publish market-size estimates we cannot source. Nothing on this site is legal advice.
