Bingo: how the business works

Bingo is a draw game played together: numbers are called and players mark them on their tickets until someone completes a pattern. It survives in halls in the United Kingdom, Spain and Latin America, in charity games in North America, and online, where it works as a community product with casino games alongside.

How it makes money

Networks

Like poker, bingo needs enough players in a room to make prizes attractive, so many online brands share rooms on a common network run by a platform supplier. The brand owns the marketing and the customer; the network supplies the games and the player pool.

Regulation

Bingo is regulated as gambling in most markets, often under a licence of its own. In Great Britain, for example, bingo has its own operating licence and the separate bingo duty is being abolished under the tax changes announced in 2025. Charity and fundraising bingo is usually exempt below certain limits.
